Group Criteria:

- Senior: Children in Grades 9 to 12 inclusive
- Intermediate: Children in grades 5th – 8th all inclusive
- Junior: Children in grades 1-4 all inclusive
- Sub Junior: Children in grades PKG and KGÂ
General Rules – Stage Events
- Registration for Stage Events will close on April 19th at 11pm CST.
- Registration for any event will not be accepted after the deadline. However, please note that participants are strongly advised to register as early as possible once the registration is opened. GAMA may choose to close the registration if there is an overwhelming number of registrations than it can accommodate in the venue/permitted time.
- No walk-ins will be allowed for stage competition at the venue.
- All the required details regarding the participation/performance (name of participants, duration of program, grades of participants etc.) should be provided at the time of registration itself.
- All participants should complete the online waiver form. For participants 17 or younger the form should be completed by a parent/legal guardian.
- For an Event to be considered in a competitive category, there should be a minimum of 4 contestants for solo events and 4 teams for group events registered respectively.
- If the minimum number of registrations are not received for an event, the item may be cancelled at the discretion of GAMA.
- First, Second and Third prizes will be distributed for each competitive item.
- In the event of a tie, the following process is followed –
- if there is a tie for first place – the first prize will be given to all the First place winners, a second prize will not be given and a third prize will be given to the runner-up.
- If there is a tie for second place, the second prize will be given to all the Second place winners and a third place prize will not be given.
- If there is a tie for third place, the Third place prize will be given to all the third place winners.
- For all group events
- A team should have at least 4 members and a maximum of 8 members
- Names and class/grade of all the participants should be provided during registration.
- Music files for stage events must be sent via email to [email protected] no later than Saturday April 20th,2024 midnight.Â
- Music File name format should be eventname_grade-group_registrant-name.mp3
- No changes of any sort to the music files will be allowed under any circumstances after April 20th, 2024 midnight. It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure the file durations are within the assigned time limits.Â
- All contestants should abide by these rules/ guidelines.
- All contestants must dress and conduct themselves appropriately, in conformity with accepted standards of dress code.
- Contestants will be identified with Chest Numbers.
- Contestants must be present when their names are called out before the item. In the case of group items, all participants must be present when the group is called out. If a contestant does not show up on the stage by the 3rd call, he/she/team will be disqualified.
- In the case of Public Speaking, the contestant must be present 15 minutes before the start of the event or be disqualified. Please see the Public speaking rules before for more details.
- Contestants or parent/legal guardians of the contestant cannot challenge the decision of judges. Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
- Any expected conflict with other events on the day of the Stage event should be communicated well ahead of time via [email protected] to GAMA. Once the event is sequenced and reporting time emails are sent out to participants, requests to change the event sequence time will NOT be entertained for any reason.
- GAMA reserves the right to regroup and change the competition categories based on participation registrations.
- GAMA reserves the right to accommodate, cancel or disqualify participants if they deem it necessary.
- GAMA is not responsible for any misplaced or lost personal belongings.
- All contestants must ensure that their performance completes within the time limits of the respective event (see individual event limits below).
- A timer will be provided to the judges.
- Negative scoring will be in place for any performance that goes beyond the allotted time limit.
- To minimise disruption to the contestant’s performance, no warning bells will chime while the performance is in progress.
- If there is an overwhelming number of registrations, it may be possible that GAMA may conduct certain events in parallel at a different stage/classroom other than the main auditorium hall. This will be reflected in the program schedule.
- Parents/teachers should refrain from providing any kind of assistance to the contestants while the contest is in progress.
- Children must be always accompanied by their Parent/ or a Guardian at the venue. GAMA will not be responsible for the safety of children during the event.
Rules for Vocal/ Instrumental music
- Maximum allotted time for a performance is 5 minutes for Vocal and 4 mins for Instrumental music.
- Shruti box can be used for Indian classical vocal solo, no other background music or accompaniment will be permitted including Karaoke music.
- Lip synching with an already recorded song will not be permitted for competitive singing and non-competitive singing.
- Karaoke music or participant singing will not be permitted for Instrumental Music.
- Karaoke will be permitted for Non-Classical solo, Western Music solo and Group Song categories. The files should be submitted no later than the deadline mentioned in general rules.
- Pre Recorded music on the stage will not be permitted to play any competitive/ non-competitive Instrumental Music.
- Performers should bring their own musical instruments to perform an instrumental music item.
- Handheld microphone(s) and microphone stands, chairs and note stands will be provided by GAMA as deemed appropriate to the event.
Rules for Dance items
- For Classical solo dance, the maximum allotted time for a performance is 5 minutes.
- For Non-Classical solo dance
- Maximum allotted time for a performance is 5 minutes.
- Participants should not perform classical dance in this event.
- For Group Dance, the maximum allotted time for a performance is 5 minutes.
- For Western dance only two dance forms are allowed. Hip Hop and Break dance
- Maximum time allowed is 5 minutes for both solo and group dance
- Music used for Western should be authentic
- Props will be allowed on the stage, provided the performers themselves can carry and handle it without outside assistance. Parents/other adults will NOT be allowed to set up the props on stage.
- For the dance performed using pre-recorded music, music files must be provided in MP3 format via email at [email protected] no later than the deadline mentioned in general rules.

Rules for Public Speaking contest
- The purpose of Public speaking- Extemporaneous is to evaluate the contestant’s knowledge of the subject and their ability to communicate the subject in an effective manner in front of an audience. They will be judged on Presentation, Organization, Diction, Poise and Knowledge of the subject matter.
- All contestants are expected to report to the Waiting Room 30 minutes before the start of the event. The location of the Waiting room will be given on the day of the event. The chest number will determine the order of the speakers.
- 15 minutes before their turn to speak, each contestant will be separately escorted to a Preparation Area, where they will be given the topic on a piece of paper. If a contestant is not present in the Waiting room at this time, they will be disqualified. No accommodations of any sort will be made for other events or unforeseen delays.
- Contestants must prepare their speech individually, any consultations with other participants or persons will lead to disqualification.
- No smartphone/other electronic devices including but not limited to smart watches are allowed in the Waiting or Preparation rooms.
- The contestant can take notes on the paper on which the topic is provided. No other paper is allowed. Contestants should bring their own writing implements.
- The contestant may use their notes as reference during the speech. Reading the speech out is not allowed and may lead to disqualification if deemed egregious by the judges.
- The contestant will have 3 minutes to give a speech about the topic. A Yellow card will be displayed at 2 minutes 30 seconds and a Red Card at 3 minutes. Points will be deducted if the contestant goes over their prescribed time. If the contestant goes beyond 3 minutes 30 seconds, they will be immediately disqualified.
- GAMA reserves the right to disqualify any participant at any time for not following the rules if they deem it necessary.
- There will be a category – Declamation speech. Those participating must report 10 minutes prior to the given schedule.
- In this category participants should prepare for a speech already given by famous personalities in Public in advance. The contestant can choose any speech and no topic will be given by the SaReGama team on the day of the event.
- Contestants should bring their own writing implements.
- The contestant may use their notes as reference during the speech. Reading the speech out is not allowed and may lead to disqualification if deemed egregious by the judges.
- The contestant will have 3 minutes to give a speech about the topic. A Yellow card will be displayed at 2 minutes 30 seconds and a Red Card at 3 minutes. Points will be deducted if the contestant goes over their prescribed time. If the contestant goes beyond 3 minutes 30 seconds, they will be immediately disqualified.
- GAMA reserves the right to disqualify any participant at any time for not following the rules if they deem it necessary.
