Program Rules

Join us for Thiruvonam ’24 – GAMA’s Onam festivities this year, where we strive to create an exceptional experience for all Malayalees with a grand Onam Sadya, visit from Maveli, and other exciting surprises. At GAMA, we always aim for high quality community stage events that provide a stunning experience visually and aurally. 

 

With irrepressible excitement, we announce that registration is now open for the stage events.  Please sign up here to participate. This is the mega stage to showcase your talent in various dance forms, musical shows, drama, miming and much more. This is your day to shine on the stage and give a remarkable performance that will captivate all.  

 

  1. The following are the program categories and maximum allotted time for each event.
      • ❖ Rangapooja: 5 minutes
      • ❖ Group Dance: 6 minutes
      • ❖ GroupSong: 8 minutes
      • ❖ Thiruvathira: 6 minutes
      • ❖ ChendaMelam: 8 minutes
      • ❖ Skit:10 minutes
      • ❖ FashionShow: 10 minutes
      • ❖ Other:5 minutes
  2. Due to the limited number of slots available for performances, we strongly encourage you to register as soon as possible.
  3. GAMA board reserves the right to conduct auditions based on registrations in any category before finalising the event list. The date of the auditions (if needed) will be announced after the registrations closes.
  4. All events are designed for group participation, no solo events allowed. A minimum number of five participants are required for each event except for Fashion Show which requires a minimum of 10 participants. 
  5. a) We welcome as many team members as possible as we aim to involve a large portion of the community in the festivities. Please specify the total number of members in your team while registering.
    b) Each participant should purchase a ticket for Onam individually. 
  6. Participants should be aged 10 and above to  participate as a team for any event with the exception of Skit. 
  7. Participants are required to submit a detailed description about the program as part of the registration process.  
  8. Programs should be aligned with the theme of the day that is Onam. 
  9. Those registering for skit are required to submit the script in advance for review by the GAMA team at [email protected].
  10. If you have any prop requirements for your event, please inform us well in advance. 
  11. Having at least one team member with GAMA membership is mandatory to register for stage events. 
  12. Each person is allowed to register for only one program.  
  13. Registrations and participation for the events are open to Malayalees only.  
  14. In the event of an overwhelming number of registrations than what can be accommodated, GAMA will close the registrations early with a 24 hour notice.  
  15. GAMA encourages participants to incorporate Malayalam based songs/theme for all stage events. In case of overwhelming response in any one category, GAMA board reserves right to select performances that incorporate the essence of Kerala.
  16. performance should align with the Onam theme, be non-political and should not show bias towards  any racial, religious, nationality, gender or  ethnic groups. 
  17. The final decision regarding registration acceptance rests with the GAMA Board of Directors (BoD). 
  18. Registrations will close on July 31, 2024 
  19. Please submit all audio for your event by August 17, 2024 to the email  [email protected]. 
  20. Name your audio file as EventName_TeamName (e.g., GroupDance_DesiGirls).
